In response to a request from Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), the Operational Logistics Support Programme took on a project to design and build a dining facility at the Afghan National Security Forces' Logistics School at Pol-e-Charki, Kabul. At the end of January, with the construction works successfully completed, Logistics Support Office- Infrastructure (LO-I) handed over the dining facility simultaneously to the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan (NTM-A) and the Afghan National Army (ANA).

The scope of the project involved the design and construction of a 500-person dining facility equipped with both static kitchen facilities and mobile kitchen training sets. While the dining facility has been constructed to provide a facility to feed the students and staff attending the Logistics School, it is also designed to be a training facility in which Afghan National Army chefs can be trained for in-barracks and field cooking. The project was developed by the LO-I project team in Capellen, with the construction works being supervised by LO-I staff deployed in Kabul.

This project was funded by a Luxembourg Government donation to the Afghan National Army Trust Fund, which is administered by SHAPE.
