North Atlantic Council representatives visit NSPA


LUXEMBOURG -  On 28 July 2021, at the invitation of the NSPA General Manager, eleven representatives from the North Atlantic Council to NATO visited the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).

The visit, attended by Permanent Representatives and Deputy Permanent Representatives, offered an opportunity to learn first-hand about the important role that the NSPA plays in NATO. The agenda included briefings delivered by the General Manager and NSPA Senior Staff, followed by guided tours of Life Cycle Management workshops.

The Delegation had an opportunity to attend different sessions and take part in discussions on NSPA's activities in support of Afghanistan, NSPA's engagement in NATO Trust Funds, Multinational funding and NSPA Support Partnerships; the Agency's contribution to NATO 2030 NATO and the EU from an NSPA perspective. The Strategic Infrastructure Programme was also part of the briefings.

Following the dedicated sessions, the NAC Delegation and NSPA participants headed to the NSPA Air and Land Combat Systems workshop, where they were briefed on NSPA capabilities in this domain. Subsequently, the group took part in the tour of the Communications, Air and Missile Defence workshop, where they learned about the Tactical Ballistic Missile Defence (TBMD) capability and had the opportunity to visit the anechoic chamber and the radar in the R-SPC setup.

Representatives to NATO from Bulgaria, Canada, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Slovenia visited NSPA workshops.

After the tour, the Delegation thanked the General Manager and expressed their appreciation for the visit. H.E. Ms Marisa Gerards, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to NATO and Delegation lead, recognised Mr Dohmen's "creativity and passion in leading the Agency's transformation in the last five years".
