NSPA participates in the 2022 CAD/PAD Technical Exchange Workshop

MARYLAND, US - Last week (from 12 July to 14 July), the NSPA Air Munitions Support team attended the 2022 Cartridge Actuated Device and Propellant Actuated Device (CAD/PAD) Technical Exchange Workshop in Maryland, the United States. The annual meeting brought together technical experts, academia, laboratories, governmental agencies and end users to engage in technical discussions and exchange ideas on how to enhance warfighter readiness.

Cartridge Actuated Device and Propellant Actuated Devices are critical items assuring the emergency escape system of combat aircraft, procured on a regular basis by NSPA on behalf of NATO Air Forces. CADs are small explosive devices used to provide initiation for aircrew escape devices. PADs include catapults, rocket catapults and rocket motors, which are used in military aircrew escape systems.

Further to the workshop, NSPA and the US CAD/PAD Joint Program Office are scheduling a first edition of NATO CAD/PAD Days in October 2022, at the Araxos Air Base, Greece, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and achieving higher readiness for the Allied Air Forces.
