NSPA delivers Role2B Hospital to the Italian Navy


LUXEMBOURG -The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) delivered a new Role2B hospital to the "San Marco" Marine Brigade of the Italian Navy. The delivery is part of a series of field hospitals requested to NSPA to augment and modernise Italy's military field equipment.

The "San Marco" Marine Brigade is an amphibious formation of the Italian Navy, with its command in Brindisi. The delivered field hospital has a reduced scope from main Role2B delivered to the Italian Army. The system is composed by three interconnected modules: Triage, Emergency Room and Analysis Laboratory. The contract includes other four ISO containers for storage and transport purposes and the possibility to expand the hospital with additional modules if required.

In addition, NSPA has provided the Navy with specialised medical equipment in accordance with NATO Medical Treatment Facility Role 2 Basic level. This includes Portable X-ray, Ultrasound, Electro cardiographer, Portable defibrillator, fibre optics Laryngoscope and Recto scope, Ophthalmoscope coherent, Laminar flow extractor hood, Laboratory Analysers, Refrigerator and freezer.

To date, the NSPA Engineering team has delivered four Role 2 Basic hospitals and a Modular Biocontainment Complex to the Italian Army in Rome, Naples, Turin and Milan areas. The facilities are already operational and in use by the Italian Army.
