On 15 June 2022, the CEPS Programme Office, attended the Science & Technology Organization (STO) Symposium on "Empowering NATO's Technology Edge: Past, Present and Future", held at the Conference Centre of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in Paris, in celebration of STO's 70th anniversary.
With the participation of General Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT); Mr. Van Weel, NATO ASG Emerging Security Challenges Division; Mr. Chiva, French Minister of Defence Director of Defence Innovation Agency; Mr. Wyckoff, Director Science and Technology OECD, and many representatives from the Defense Industry sector in the area of Science and Technology (Thales, Starbust Aerospace, Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, Nordic Ammunition Company and others), the symposium addressed the challenges and opportunities posed by disruptive technologies to the Alliance's future operational environment.
This celebration was taking place while EUROSATORY 2022, a relevant Defence & Security global event, was also being held in Paris.
The CEPS Programme Office Plans and Policy Officer, Mr. Carlos Soares, engaged with key STO players in the area of the Applied Vehicle Technology (AVT) Panel and specifically in the field of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), leading to the potential future participation of the CEPS in the relevant discussion panels, with an Observer status. This will be an important step for the CEPS anticipation, preparation and implementation of any measures that may be necessary for maintaining the relevance and responsiveness of the CEPS when faced with upcoming sustainable fuels and energy sources.
