NATO Deputy Secretary General visits nspa

LUXEMBOURG - On 4 October 2021, the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Mr Mircea Geoană, visited the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), in Luxembourg, and met with Ms Stacy Cummings, NSPA General Manager.

The Deputy Secretary General was accompanied by the NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, Mr David van Weel, and other NATO officials. The meeting with NSPA senior leadership was also an opportunity to engage in discussions ahead of the North Atlantic Council that will take place on 6 October, which will also include a brief by NSPA's General Manager.

After the meeting, Mr Geoană and Mr Van Weel had the opportunity to visit the NSPA Cyber Security Operations Centre and were provided a brief about the Agency's latest engagement in cyber security in cooperation with Luxembourg. The delegation then visited the NSPA Air and Land Combat Systems workshop, where they were briefed on NSPA capabilities in this domain.

The Deputy Secretary General thanked the Agency for its important role, including managing Kabul's airport during the recent  evacuation in Afghanistan and its essential role in NATO's response to COVID-19.  "I have great admiration for the superb NSPA Team and their indispensable work for our Alliance", he commented, in recognising the role that NSPA plays in supporting NATO.
