General Steve Thull, Chief of Defence of Luxembourg, visits NSPA


LUXEMBOURG - On 25 June 2021, General Steve Thull, Chief of Defence of Luxembourg, visited the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) in Capellen, Luxembourg.

The meeting presented an opportunity to discuss current and future cooperation in areas such as real life support for exercises; training or deployment for the Luxembourg Army within the framework of future joint LUX-BEL battalion; Demilitarisation, Dismantling and Disposal (D3) engagement opportunities and Cyber Defence projects for Luxembourg Armed Forces.

Colonel Pascal Ballinger, Vice Chief of Defence; Colonel Yvon Kries, Director of Procurement and Administration Division; Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Antony, Head of Department Communications and Information Services (CIS) and LtCol Guillaume Hansen, Head of Department Capability Development accompanied General Thull during his visit.

During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on NSPA capabilities, including Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Cyber Defence, Life Cycle Management and Land Combat Systems.

The NSPA representatives highlighted the excellent cooperation between the Agency and Luxembourg in the areas of IT/Cyber partnerships, Trust Funds, acquisitions of platforms e.g. H-145 for Police, common funded capabilities, such as AWACS or the AFSC, participation in multinational program,mes such as the Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF) and other domains.

In addition, Mr Peter Dohmen, on behalf of the Agency, expressed his gratitude to the Host Nation for its support towards the Strategic Infrastructure Plan, which aims to modernise and enlarge NSPA facilities at Capellen site.
