NSPA delivers new firefighting vehicle to the Spanish Navy

LUXEMBOURG - The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has recently delivered a new firefighting vehicle to the Spanish Navy. Powered by a liquid cooled diesel engine, the fire truck is specifically designed for operations on board aircraft carriers, amphibious craft and in restricted areas, and is equipped with two independent fire-fighting systems for combatting various types of fires.

The first system is comprised of a high-performance compressed air foaming system that combines a mixture of water and an aqueous foaming agent with injected air to increase the fire extinguishing performance.

This system is capable of spraying a jet up to 25m and in mist mode is capable of spraying a cloud up to 5m in size. The second system is a dry powder extinguishing system especially prepared for Class B fires (liquid fuels) and Class C fires (flammable gases) and has a range of 10m.

Commissioning and acceptance tests took place at the Rota naval base on board the Landing Helicopter Dock vessel SPS Juan Carlos I.
