Czechia receives 60 ventilators from NATO stockpile

LUXEMBOURG - On 27 October 2020, the Czechia received 60 ventilators from the NATO stockpile of medical equipment further to a request for assistance sent to the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) on 22 October. The ventilators, stored at the NSPA Southern Operational Centre, in Taranto (Italy), were transported to Prague by the Czech Air Force.

NATO has established a stockpile of medical equipment and supplies to be able to provide immediate relief to Allies or partners in need. The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) manages the purchase, storage and logistics of relief items for the stockpile.

Several Allies have already made financial contributions to the NATO Pandemic Response Trust Fund, including Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Slovakia, Türkiye and the United Kingdom. In addition, the United States and Hungary have donated hundreds of ventilators.

Throughout October and November 2020 NATO Allies Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia will receive dozens of ventilators and a total of around 1, 5 Million EUR in medical supplies from the stockpile. This follows requests for assistance from the three countries to NATO's Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre. The first 60 ventilators from the stockpile were delivered on 22 October to the Ministry of Health in Albania.
