21 October 2019

This certification is an international standard that helps organisations improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better safer working conditions.

This is a strong demonstration of commitment from our senior leadership to protect all employees from accidents by mitigating workplace risks and set the example of our organization’s efforts in anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazards arising in the workplace.

“This is the result of a long journey that involved all the Southern Operational Centre (SOC) staff of which I am really proud and thankful for this yet another outstanding achievement considering that this standard has been issued in 2018 and, as far as the auditor said, probably we are the first NATO Body being certified ISO 45001.”, highlighted Mr Renato Lepore, SOC Commander.

The auditors were particularly impressed by the SOC staff and leadership involvement in the active participation to the good implementation of the SOC OH&S Management System. The auditors shared that, in their experience, they have never noted such standards in other similar organizations.

As positive findings, TÜV Rheinland highlighted also SOC’s emergency management and its compliance with applicable legislation through a clear structure of the Management System together with the retention of strong documented information.

NSPA is fully committed to create a safer and healthier workplace. This is a significant milestone achieved by SOC and will serve as an example for the rest of the Agency to benchmark NSPA’s Occupational Health and Safety performances.
