NSPA welcomes delegation from EDA

14 June 2017

NSPA General Manager Peter DOHMEN welcomed a delegation from the European Defence Agency (EDA) to NSPA HQ in Capellen, Luxembourg today led by Chief Executive, Mr. Jorge DOMECQ. The meeting continued the enhanced coordination between the two agencies since the Joint NATO EU declaration on cooperation made during the NATO Warsaw Summit in 2016.

Both Agencies highlighted their current programmes of work and future challenges. Other important topics covered during the meeting and working lunch included NSPA’s continuing extensive support to EU nations and future agency developments. The meeting also focused on future areas of cooperation in support to operations and defence procurement.

EDA Chief Executive and NSPA General Manager confirmed the good cooperation between the two Agencies in the frame of the MRTT Programme. EDA Chief Executive highlighted that in the spirit of the implementation of the EU-NATO Joint Declaration, EDA and NSPA need to avoid unnecessary duplication and to pursue complementarities. The meeting was a good opportunity to discuss such areas for example in the field of lessons learned in support to operations.

“I really see many areas where, together, we can further enhance NATO/EU cooperation though our coordinated efforts in logistics, life cycle management and procurement activities. This latest meeting was a great opportunity to identify synergies and distill future areas of collaboration.” explained Mr. Dohmen.
