NSPA SOC team takes part in 40th 10K Strataranto

18 May 2016

A team of 12 staff from the Southern Operational Centre (SOC) recently took part in a 10K fun run expressing both enthusiasm and unit pride with the NSPA-branded t-shirts.

SOC’s home city of Taranto, Italy, hosted the 40th edition of the classic “City of Two Seas” running race also known as STRATARANTO. This popular sporting event is included in the National Championship under the patronage of CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) and was split in two sub-races, one for professional runners and one for amateurs and attracted more than 2500 participants.

Starting from the city centre the route passed through the streets of Taranto before entering the Italian Air Force Base where SOC is located. The runners all passed by the SOC main gate where a static display of the NATO Deployable Camps (Capability Packages) was on show and the NSPA flag was flying high.

“All the NSPA competitors enjoyed the experience and after a beer together they are now looking forward to the 41st Strataranto!” Enthused SOC Commander, Mr. Renato LEPORE.
