07 September 2015
NSPA staff recently supported logistics courses at the Norwegian Defence International Centre (NODEFIC) in Oslo which is a is a sub-division of the Norwegian Defence Command and Staff College and the Norwegian Defence University College.
NODEFIC is widely recognized for its expertise in operations and conducts courses for global partners to enhance their success in Peace Support Operations conducted by the UN, NATO, and African Union (AU). NODEFIC is also an important contributor to the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO). Their comprehensive course schedule includes two NATO logistics courses; the NATO Logistics Officers Course and the NATO Joint Logistics Support Group (JLSG) Course.
The NATO JLSG Course was conducted in late August at Akershus Fortress in Oslo and approximately 30 officers from eight nations participated. The aim of the course was to prepare the students as nationally trained officers, augmentees or permanent staff members within a JLSG HQ. NSPA Logistics Planning and Support Programme Staff successfully supported this course including its syndicate work under the aegis of the Operational Logistics Support Partnership (OLSP) reflecting its role as Contract Integrator (CI) for OLSP-Members and Allied Command Operations (ACO).
During the course the importance of Commercial (Planning) Support delivered through NSPA was highlighted as a key enabler for the JLSG and the Military Forces it supports. NSPA role in the JLSG HQ is enshrined in the relevant NATO Logistics Policy documents.
