Contract awarded for maintenance and overhaul of Gem engines

05 May 2015

The Aviation Support Programme has recently facilitated a three-year contract (with an option for a further two years) with Rolls-Royce Germany to maintain and overhaul Gem engine modules and to offer full-scale technical and logistic support for the engine on behalf of the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw).

The contract also allows other Sea Lynx operators with the same engine to use our repair services.

Previously RRD Oberursel (Germany) completely refurbished building 9025, an old engine test-hangar for Orpheus engines (used inter alia in Fiat G.91), to host the GEM Maintenance and repair center.

The grand opening took place in mid-March 2015. During the ceremony the building was named “Henrich Focke Hall” in honour of the German aviation pioneer.
