SOC support certification exercise for the DACCC

07 April 2015

Logistic Operations’ Southern Operational Centre (SOC) has supported the NATO Deployable Air Command and Control Centre (DACCC) from Poggio Renatico (ITA) during the recent exercise ‘’Ramstein Dust 1 – 2015’’ in Gioia del Colle, Italy.

The exercise was a certification exercise for the DACCC to obtain Initial Operational Capability (IOC). The Southern Operational Centre (SOC) supported the exercise by providing technical guidance and “on the job” training to DACCC personnel during setup, operation and teardown of the deployed camp which started on 4 March 2015.

SOC staff was involved in handling containers, assisted with the setup of the tent structures which included climate control and provided training on the power generation and distribution. SOC staff also remained on stand-by for any Follow on Support (FoS) issues during the operational phase. A large part of the DACCC material stored at SOC was deployed for use on this exercise.

The DARS (Deployable Air Control Center, RAP Production Center and Sensor Fusion Post) Director, Colonel C. Heite and DACCC Support Head, Lieutenant Colonel Ing. G.B. Pothoven, expressed their appreciation to the SOC Commander for the excellent support provided by the SOC team during this exercise and their hope to continue this good working relationship in the future. The exercise concluded on 24 March 2015.
