19 May 2014

Exercise Steadfast Fortitude I - 2014 was carried out during the period 31st March – 4th April 2014 at the NSPA Southern Operational Centre, Taranto, Italy.

Exercise Fortitude is a training exercise which is conducted twice a year. Its purpose is to train military personnel supporting the deployable NATO Command Structure (NCS) or NATO Force Structure (NFS) unit headquarters on issues relating to camp management, planning and preparation, including ‘Real Life Support’, as well as to maintenance and capability package (mainly CP 156) assets and equipment.

16 personnel from a variety of NATO locations and backgrounds attended the various training classes. Represented HQs included Joint Force Command Brunssum, Joint Force Command Naples, Multinational Joint Headquarters Ulm, and the Eurocorps Headquarters. The training involved familiarization with the structure (largely pre-fabricated tents) systems, power generation and distribution systems, and ‘Bobcat’ capabilities. All participants were enthusiastic and the training was well received.
