Italian logistics students visit SOC

17 September 2013

A group of Italian Air Force officers visited the Southern Operational Centre (SOC) recently as part of their military logistics training.

The visit was coordinated by the Italian Liaison Office at SOC Taranto and was part of the second phase of the course (on-the-job training), designed to provide direct knowledge of the logistical/operational realities in both national and NATO environments.

During their visit on 4 September, the attendees were accompanied by Lt‑Col. Domenico Spalluto from the ITAF Logistics Command and hosted by the SOC Commander Mr Renato Lepore. A briefing was presented describing the organization, tasks, principal activities and future programs of the NATO Support Agency (NSPA) and the SOC, and an overview given of the technical and operational features of deployable camps (Capability Package 0156), which is the core business of the SOC.

Following the information briefing, the attendees visited the SOC facilities and an equipment demonstration was mounted to illustrate the deployable camps. “The visitors demonstrated great interest in the camp and the event was such a success that the Italian Air Force Logistics Command representative has asked that a visit to the SOC be included in future logistics courses.” explained SOC Commander, Mr Renato Lepore.
