Workshop certified to meet EN9100:2009 quality management system standard

12 September 2013

The Workshop of the Rockets, Missiles, UAS, GPS, Combat Vehicles (LM) Programme has been successful in obtaining for the fourth consecutive time a certification that its processes and documentation meet the requirements of EN9100.

EN9100 is a quality management system standard that has been written specifically to address the needs of the aerospace industry and is widely applied in the defense industry as well.

EN9100:2009 has become the de facto standard (European norm) in the aerospace industry and certification is mandatory to be considered as an eligible supplier of major aerospace companies and national defense organizations (i.e. Boeing, Lockheed Martin, National Air Forces, etc.). This standard incorporates all of the ISO 9001 requirements and introduces additional requirements to meet the specific quality and safety standards of the aerospace industry. An extensive quality audit of the LM Workshop by TÜV Rheinland auditors took place in May 2013. One major element of the audit was to ensure the comprehensive documentation and traceability of all production/maintenance tasks, including the proper control of equipment, training certificates of employees and stringent configuration management procedures.

Obtaining the important EN9100 quality management system certification recognizes the dedication of the entire LM Workshop staff in providing products and services at the highest quality levels to all customers.

“The EN9100 certification is a key pre-requisite to ensure that the LM Workshop can support our demanding aerospace and defense customers in the future. It is an instant proof of our quality management capabilities that will lead to more effective processes and, ultimately, to better products and services. It gives us a competitive advantage whenever we seek to support state-of-the-art defense systems. I applaud this success, which makes the LM Workshop unique at NSPA.” said Giorgio Scappaticci, LM Programme Manager.
