Official Visit of OCCAR-EA Director

On 22 April 2013, OCCAR Executive Administration Director Mr Tim ROWNTREE was welcomed by the NSPA General Manager Mike LYDEN to familiarize himself with NSPA and to identify potential partnering opportunities.

OCCAR stands for Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d'ARmement and was established by an Administrative Arrangement on 12 November 1996 by the Defence Ministers of France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. At this moment, OCCAR counts six member nations: Belgium, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain. The OCCAR community consists however of 12 nations as Finland, Sweden, Poland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Turkey are also participating in one or more OCCAR programmes.

Current business ties between OCCAR and NSPA were discussed with a view to identifying new cooperation opportunities. Two NSPA Logistics Operations Directorate Programmes, namely the Air Defence Programme Office and NH 90/Tiger Programme Office, are currently providing logistics support to OCCAR.

The OCCAR delegation also included the Deputy Director Eric Huybrechts and the Business Development Officer Paul Haccuria.

OCCAR is an international organisation with its headquarters in Bonn, Germany. Its core business is the through-life management of collaborative defence equipment programmes.
