Expanding our logistics support portfolio

19 March 2013

A new success-story for the Rockets, Missiles, UAS, GPS, Combat Vehicles Programme (LM) and the logistics operations community.

On 28 February 2013, NSPA hosted the GTK1-BOXER steering group meeting where the future logistic support through NSPA was addressed. The basis for the discussion was the Logistic Support Feasibility Study developed by the LM Programme.

The GTK-BOXER is a German-Dutch multirole armoured transport vehicle designed to carry out a variety of utility missions with maximum flexibility. This is achieved via "mission modules" tailored to various tasks and which equip the vehicle as required.

At this point in time, GTK-BOXER production is on-going for both user nations. The fielding for Germany has already started and this country has deployed the systems to theatre operations. The Netherlands will receive their first systems in August 2013.

The Netherlands and Germany requested to join the Land Combat Vehicle (LCV) community. During the LCV Support Partnership meeting held at NSPA on 6-7 March, the member nations approved the creation of a new project in support of the GTK-BOXER with Germany and The Netherlands as founding member nations. The tasks assigned to the LM Programme cover three main areas:

  • technical support (technical data package management, configuration management and accounting, field service support, modification management, etc.);
  • maintenance support (repairs, direct exchange, system overhaul, etc.) and
  • supply support (spares acquisition, cataloguing, central stock management, brokerage operations, stock redistribution, etc.). Supply support is also being provided through the NATO Logistics Stock Exchange (NLSE).
