Logistics Operations Director of the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) visits NSPA
28 January 2013
On Thursday, 24 January the NSPA General Manager, Mike LYDEN, welcomed Major General Kenneth S. DOWD, Director of DLA Logistics Operations.
As the commander of DLA Logistics Operations, Major General K. DOWD is responsible for end-to-end supply chain management of the DLA's eight supply chains, providing logistics and material process management policy, guidance and oversight, and monitoring supply chain performance.
General DOWD's visit started with an office call with the General Manager and Mr Steven BERNETT, NSPA Director of Logistics Operations, focusing on logistics operations. Following this meeting, a series of tailored briefings were delivered, focusing on NSPA redeployment capabilities and plans.
From the exchanges during the visit, it emerged that General DOWD was keen for the DLA to work with NSPA to establish a NATO-wide procurement program for common medical equipment and supplies and to establish a working relationship between the two agencies to support ISAF redeployment operations. He also showed interest in increasing DLA's participation in NSPA’s KFOR fuel project.
