07 November 2012

On 15 October, NSPA General Manager Mike Lyden attended the "NATO Industry Day 2012" event in Riga, Latvia.

Building on the Chicago Summit earlier this year, all nations agreed to seek more efficient and effective ways to allocate funding, and this Industry Day was a determined attempt by NATO to engage with industry, to address NATO shortfalls and to identify new approaches to collaborative work.

The conference highlight was a VTC with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Of particular relevance to NSPA was his objective to increase the participation of small and medium business in NATO contracts.

In his presentation, Mr Lyden summarized NSPA’s first 100 days and described the agency`s engagement with industry. He emphasized the need for the agency and industry to "lean forward together".

The consolidation of the agencies and the establishment of NSPA were welcomed by the audience and generated high expectations of future progress. At the close of the conference, the NSPA General Manager was applauded for his Smart Support initiative and the promise of further advances.
