Central Europe Pipeline System (CEPS) Programme Manager

Marc D. Thoreson

Mr Marc Thoreson assumed the duties of Programme Manager for the Central Europe Pipeline System (CEPS) in Versailles, France on 1 January 2020. He is responsible for the successful management of the operation, financing and maintenance of the CEPS Programme.

Mr Thoreson completed a 29-year military career in the United States Army culminating as the Chief of Staff for the United States Army Quartermaster School. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army as a Quartermaster officer detailed to the Infantry. Upon graduating from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia, he entered active duty in July 1990 at Fort Benning, Georgia.

He served as the Commander, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Energy Middle East Region in Bahrain from 10 July 2014 to 28 June 2017. His previous assignments also include: Division Chief, Army Customer-Facing Division, DLA-Aviation; Executive Officer, 49th Quartermaster Petroleum Group; Commander, 530th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB); Joint Logistics Operations Officer, J-3/4, Joint Forces Command; Executive Officer and Support Operations Officer, 13th Corps Support Battalion (CSB); Plans and Operations Officer, J-4, Joint Task Force-Bravo, Soto Cano, Honduras; Combined Logistics Captain Career Course Instructor, Army Logistics Management College; Commander, 26th Quartermaster Company (DS), Hanau, Germany; Accountable Officer and Supply Platoon Leader, Alpha Company, 324th Forward Support Battalion (FSB); Platoon Leader, 2-18th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 24th Infantry Division. Colonel Thoreson also served as the Supply Management Officer, Support Operations, 16th Corps Support Group; Battalion S-4, 324th Forward Support Battalion (FSB); and Platoon Leader, Alpha Company, 1-29th Infantry Regiment. His operational deployments include Operation Vigilant Warrior (Saudi Arabia), Operation Joint Endeavor and Operations Joint Guard/Forge (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq), and Operation Unified Response (Haiti). He has directly supported Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation New Dawn (OND), Operation Freedom Sentinel (OFS), and Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).

He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from North Georgia College in Dahlonega,Georgia. He holds a Master of Science in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Master in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. His military education also includes: the Joint Forces Staff School, the U.S. Army Command General Staff College, the Logistics Executive Development Course, the Mortuary Affairs Officer Course, the Petroleum Officer Course, the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Pathfinder Course, the Quartermaster Transition Course, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Commander's Course, the Basic Airborne Course, and the Infantry Officer Basic Course.

His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, the Parachutist Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.
