NSPA is the executing agency and Romania is the Lead Nation. The aim of the project is to destroy 1,269 tonnes of pesticides and dangerous chemicals (PDCs) from 16 sites and to improve the quality of life of one fourth of the Moldovan population. Thanks to the contributing nations (Romania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Turkey, Norway, Estonia, Italy and Moldova), the removal of pesticides from the first four sites has already been completed since the beginning of the project. The project has gained great importance both at national and international level. The closing ceremony of Ialoveni and Anenii Noi sites was attended by H.E. Mr Iuri LEANCA, Moldovan Prime Minister. The works in the four subsequent sites will start in April 2014.
